Work nears completion on the new purpose build workshop and office block at Portlethen, Aberdeen

McGill are on programme to deliver the M&E Work Package, valued at £560K, in October 2014 for Smith International (North Sea) Ltd who manufacture drilling machinery and equipment for oil and gas production.

McGill secured the project with development and construction company Dandara having successfully completed a similar project at Site \'A\' Westhill, Aberdeen for IKM Testing.

Key features of the project include installation of Ambirad gas fired heaters throughout the workshop, the longest of which is 50m. Working in the same way as the sun, radiant heat warms all solid objects and surfaces in its path through infrared waves. Being mounted overhead, AmbiRad radiant heaters produce infrared heat that is directed downwards to low level by a reflector.

The lighting installations in the workshop and office block have been designed using LED luminaires. These are inherently efficient, requiring fewer luminaires for lighter and less energy. They are backed by intelligent control systems capable of further enhancing efficiency.

McGill have recently submitted another tender offer with Dandara for the M&E Work Packages for Site 'C' Westhill, Aberdeen and are hopeful of securing the order, with a view of further developing the excellent working relationship enjoyed with Dandara.
