McGill complete lighting upgrade to iconic Scott Monument in Edinburgh

As a result of our place on The City of Edinburgh Council Mechanical & Electrical Frameworks we were awarded the contract for the lighting upgrade to the Scott Monument in Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh.

The brief from The City of Edinburgh Council was to create a new lighting scheme for the Scott Monument that would re-establish its significance in the city skyline, reflect the gothic quality of the structure highlighting the important features and fitting with the aspirations and objectives of the Council’s sustainable lighting strategy.

The £131k project took five weeks to complete and was a diificult project due to the busy central location, the need to work at height, the fragile nature of the monument and the narrow access through the monument itself.

The new lighting was switched on, on Tuesday 20 September 2016 (the anniversary of Walter Scott’s death).
