New Managing Director for McGill
After 34 years at the forefront of McGill, Stan McGill has retired as Managing Director and has been succeeded by Colin Low.
Colin is a time served electrician and served his apprenticeship with DH Morris & Co Ltd in Dundee. On completion of his apprenticeship he trained as a Project Engineer. He then moved to NG Bailey & Co Ltd working his way from Project Engineer to Senior Contracts Manager.
After managing the Dundee branch at NG Bailey for 10 years, Colin joined McGill in 2005 as Operations Manager for the M&E division. Colin, who was promoted to Operations Director (M&E) in 2007, has successfully grown his Division’s turnover from less than £1M with planned turnover for 2015/16 in excess of £20M. Colin has a proven track record as a successful leader and has established an excellent reputation for high quality and service throughout Scotland.
McGill was started in 1981 by Stan (Financial Director) and his elder brother David (Managing Director). Together they built the Company up from a small electrical firm into the multi-trade organisation it is today. When David retired in 2010 Stan took over at the helm. Today, with an impressive turnover of £38m, the company employs over 400 people and boasts offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow as well as their head office in Dundee.
Stan McGill commented “Colin has been a great asset to our business since he joined ten years ago and I am confident that his drive, commitment, passion and enthusiasm will lead the Company to even greater successes.”
