McGill secure £4.2m M&E contract with Balfour Beatty Construction Limited
McGill have secured a £4.2m M&E contract with Balfour Beatty Construction Limited for the new build Radisson Red Hotel in Glasgow. The 176-bedroom hotel will be built on a site near the SECC, the Clyde Auditorium and the Hydro.
The Radisson Red is the first new-build hotel in Europe run by the Radisson Group and we are delighted to have secured this contract with Balfour Beatty. The last project we delivered with Balfour Beatty was the East Marketgait Development in Dundee for Dundee City Council.
The Radisson Red brand is a new hotel philosophy that connects with an ageless millennial mindset through art, music and fashion and will have an exterior that will appear to change colour in reaction to natural light.
The ten-storey building will boast a roof bar and gym with views across the city and parking for 80 cars.
The developers also plan to build two state-of-the-art digital screens on the building which will promote forthcoming events at nearby venues.
Since lodging our tender offer in April 2016, Shawn Walker, John Thomson and Brian Kelly have been working closely with the client and design team to bring the project in on budget allowing the contract to go ahead.
Colin Low, Managing Director, commented,
Securing this contract in addition to the £5m M&E contract with Ogilvie Construction Limited for the new build 592 bed student accommodation project at Kelvinhaugh Street in Glasgow is great news for the Glasgow branch, securing employment for the staff and workforce throughout 2017 and allowing us to look ahead to secure contracts in 2018.
