McGill open New Edinburgh Branch

McGill open New Edinburgh Branch

On Monday 12 November McGill will be opening their new Edinburgh branch on Turnhouse Road next to Edinburgh airport, bringing the total number of offices to four.

An increase in work in the Edinburgh area has led to the demand for this new property to meet the needs of a growing client base.

Mechanical & Electrical work continues at Quartermile, the old Edinburgh Royal Infirmary site. The latest phase to be secured is Q22 shell & core for Sir Robert McAlpine (£350k), following successful completion of Q10 shell & core and fit out (£3m) and Q20 shell & core and fit out (£1.7m).

Work remains steady on The City of Edinburgh Council Mechanical & Electrical framework. The latest project to be secured is the Mechanical services installation to Wester Hailes Education Centre (£205k). The M&E division have also just secured M&E work packages at the new build Outdoor Centre at Fairmilehead for Craigdon Mountain sports, a design & build project valued at £300k.

The Residential division are carrying out Medical Adaptations for Trust Housing Association across the Central Belt (£258k), Periodic Inspections for Clackmannanshire Council (£313k), boiler replacements for Almond Housing Association in Livingston (£436k).

Private sector contracts include electrical refurbishment work at Leith Academy for Sundial Properties (£180k), electrical & plumbing work for Glencairn Properties at McDonald Road (£160k), building refurbishment work at the offices of Veolia Water Outsourcing and electrical and plumbing works at Greenside for Hayburn Homes (£265k).

McGill hope to grow the already successful small works and jobbing side of the business, expanding the private client base as well as social landlord and commercial planned and reactive maintenance works.

Stanley McGill, Managing Director, added:

Our new office in Edinburgh is strategically placed with excellent road connections to service Edinburgh, the Lothians and the M8 corridor. The 1.1 acre site will give us future expansion potential as our operations grow.

Alan Rodger, previously Branch Manager of the Dalgety Bay branch, will manage the new office as well as retain responsibility for Dalgety Bay which will continue to operate as a satellite office for the foreseeable future.
