McGill offer their services for a Bathroom Adaptation fit-out for the Scottish Spina Bifida Association
McGill have recently helped the Scottish Spina Bifida Association (SSBA) install a new wheelchair friendly bathroom at their holiday home, Rebecca Cottage, in Carnoustie.
As local all trades contractor, experienced in the installation of bathroom adaptations, McGill were the perfect choice to manage the project and coordinate all the extensive plumbing and building works in a short period of time.
Pete Wilson, Surveyor & Designer and Grant Thomson, Small Works Building Manager, quickly arranged to meet SSBA on site and discuss the project. They prioritised the work at the Cottage and were on site a few days later to start the works, which were completed in less than seven days.
Martin Hay, Operations Director Residential, commented \"After hearing about the project at Rebecca Cottage we felt it was very worthwhile and were keen to be involved. With our range of trade skills and project management services in this specialised field put to good use, we hope that we have helped make a difference to individuals with Spina Bifida in Scotland and that the improvements to the bathroom mean that many more families will be now be able to enjoy this wonderful retreat.”
Rearo in Glasgow had already offered to supply waterproof shower panels and had secured further support from Tayfirth Laminates and William Wilson to provide sanitaryware. McGill requested support from AKW Medicare to supply bathroom adaptation equipment.
With supplies delivered without delay, McGill were able to completely transform the 9m2 bathroom from start to finish using all their in-house trades. The bathroom is now fitted with equipment enabling all guests, whether mobile or wheelchair users, to use it in comfort and safety.
Anne Metcalf, Events and Information Co-ordinator at the Scottish Spina Bifida Association remarked, “The bathroom refurbishment is absolutely wonderful! I’m delighted with it and very grateful for all your extremely generous donations of materials and labour. It was organized and managed very efficiently and completed to the highest standard within a very short timescale and I would have no hesitation in recommending all your companies to our Service Users.”
