East of Scotland First Stage Apprentice of the Year win for Euan Borland

Euan Borland, a 24 year old Electrical Apprentice with McGill has won First Stage Apprentice of the Year for the SECTT East of Scotland College Group awards held in Edinburgh on Thursday 20 June 2013.

In May Euan won the Dundee College award and went forward to the Regional competition. He will now go forward to the National competition to be held in October.

David Stebbings from SECTT (Scottish Electrical Charitable Training Trust) commented, “Euan’s work is outstanding and he is a first class winner.”

Colin Low, Operations Director M&E added, “The recruitment and training of Apprentices is very important to us as a Company and to securing the future of our industry. We are extremely proud of Euan for doing so well and for his performance on site to date. We wish him the very best of luck for the next stage in October.”

This is the fourth year in five McGill have had electrical apprentices win Stage Apprentice of the Year Awards, demonstrating the calibre of apprentices produced.

In 2009 Bradley Rhynd won 2nd Stage Apprentice of the Year for Dundee College, in 2010 Sean Petrie won 2nd Stage Apprentice of the Year for North Scotland and won the Silver Medal in the Scotland wide competition. In 2011 Ryan Milne won 1st Stage Apprentice of the Year for North Scotland and also won the Silver Medal in the National competition in October.

Let’s hope Euan can make it gold in 2013.
