Apprentice Paul Anderson wins the Silver Medal at WorldSkills UK Final

McGill Apprentice, Paul Anderson, has won the silver medal from a field of eight finalists over the three day WorldSkills UK Final in Birmingham last weekend.

Paul, who has just moved into his fourth year, trained extensively for the competition at Dundee & Angus College. There were four competitors from Scotland and the standards were extremely high. Paul is pictured with the installation he had to complete as part of the competition.

Paul commented,

I want to say a big hank you to all my family and friends for being so supportive throughout the time period running up to the competition. Also a big thank you to my employer McGill and, Dundee & Angus College and SECTT.

Juliet McGill, HR Director said

Paul has been a fantastic apprentice and has worked extremely hard to get this far in the competition. We employ approximately 80 apprentices and we have had many who have made it to Stage Apprentice of the Year but none have done as well as this. We are delighted Paul's effort and commitment have paid off and we hope he has a long and happy career with us.

Paul will now be invited to the WorldSkills UK Final next year for a chance to be selected for a place in the UK squad and opportunity to compete at the World Final in Shanghai in 2021.
