Dundee-based main contractor McGill has become the construction partner of choice for many schools, colleges, and universities across Scotland, and is this week set to begin a range of refurbishment and fit out contracts that will take place during the summer break.
With the majority of students and staff off-campus over the next few months, this is traditionally the time of year when schools and higher education establishments look to complete large-scale and disruptive works, such as heating upgrades and refurbishments to kitchens and bathrooms, as well as internal refurbishments of student accommodation. This year, McGill will capitalise on the post-lockdown boom by not only continuing work with long-standing clients, but also embarking on projects for a host of new local authority customers.
Contractor with all-trades capability
McGill has long-standing relationships with many schools and universities, and is about to embark on a summer programme of works, involving both ongoing and new contracts. With its unmatched all-trades capability, McGill is main contractor on a range of contracts, including heating upgrades, refurbishments, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical works, with the Fire and Security Team also installing smoke alarms and security systems, and refurbishments to buildings across a range of university campuses.
McGill Operations Manager Kenny Muir comments “McGill has been a well-known and trusted main contractor in Dundee and the surrounding areas for four decades now, and in that time we’ve built up many excellent partner relationships, with the education sector a particular focus for us. For example, we have partnered with St Andrews University for more than 20 years on a wide range of projects, and will be continuing our work there this summer while the students and staff are off-campus.
It’s great to be able to share our successful track record with new clients, and I’m sure that our excellent reputation in the sector contributes to us winning new work. We’re particularly pleased to be developing new relationships with a host of local authorities right across the country, and we now see ourselves as the go-to main contractor in the education sector.”
