McGill Electrical Apprentice Ryan Bissett was named Apprentice of the Year in last month’s United Capital Employee of the Year competition; we talk to him here about his nomination and his hopes for his future career within the group

Ryan, what did you think when you found out some of your colleagues had nominated you?

I felt very proud to think my work colleagues thought so much of me, that they took time out of their day to write such nice things about me.

Which of the United Capital values (Relentless, Ambitious, Committed, Entrepreneurial) do you think you represent the most?

I would say I am very committed. When I got my apprenticeship I was given an opportunity that hundreds of people would love to have had, so I want to prove that employing me was the correct decision. This is why I always strive to do my very best and help when a situation arises.

What do you want to get out of attending the conference in Dubai?

I’m looking forward to learning about how the company is looking to progress in the coming years, and how I’ll I will fit into this progression as the group grows.

What are your ambitions for your future as part of United Capital?

I’m looking to finish my apprenticeship, learn as much as I can, and eventually progress through the ranks within the company.

Thanks Ryan. Congratulations on being named Apprentice of the Year!
