Dundee-based main contractor McGill has been appointed by the University of St Andrews to carry out a complex refurbishment contract at McIntosh Halls, a Category B listed building on the campus.

This extensive refurbishment, which is valued at approximately £120,000, will include complete removal of redundant hot and cold water systems which are currently housed within the roof void, removal of hot and cold water storage tanks housed on the roof, Contractor Design Portions for the new hot and colder water systems, temporary hot and cold water systems during the deconstruction and construction phases, reinstatement of new ceilings, decorating, and collaboration with our supply partner, Erith, which is responsible for the safe removal of asbestos within the roof void.

McGill, which is the partner of choice for many in the education sector, was awarded this contract due to its all-trades capabilities and expertise in project delivery in live environments. McIntosh Halls will remain occupied and operational throughout the duration of the contract, and McGill’s experienced project delivery team will operate safe working methods for the duration of the contract.

McGill’s expert teams have partnered with University of St Andrews for a number of years, and have also carried out significant contracts at a number of other schools and universities across North East Scotland in recent years, including solar PV array installations on behalf of Angus Council, and M&E works on the new build library extension at the University of Dundee.
