From McGill to The McGill Group
McGill was founded in 1981, and has been delivering for customers across Scotland ever since. With a Scotland-wide footprint and an all-trades approach, McGill has spent the last four decades building a strong reputation as an all-trades contractor which consistently delivers high quality work.
In February 2019, McGill entered administration after a few years of difficult trading conditions. United Capital, an investment company in the construction and facilities management sector, quickly became KPMG’s preferred bidder, and officially acquired the company in March of that same year.
United Capital set to work quickly righting the direction of McGill, putting in place the right leaders to set the strategic direction and drive business growth. With a continued focus on social value, an early priority for McGill was to become a living wage employer, cementing its reputation as a company working with and for the community.
With a strong leadership team in place, McGill has now become The McGill Group, with a number of strategic acquisitions taking place in 2021, designed to strengthen the number of operatives, breadth of skills, and geographical footprint. With a growing portfolio of exciting projects right across the country, and a thriving apprenticeship programme, McGill is focused on constructing the future together with clients old and new.
