Nominations across the Trades for McGill Apprentices

Two McGill apprentices have been nominated for awards in both Plumbing and Electrical. William Ritchie and Steven Cooney have both received the nominations for their work at Dundee College.

For the 25th year SNIPEF Education & Training Trust is making awards to the best Apprentice Plumber throughout Scotland, and William Ritchie a 2nd year Plumbing Apprentice has been nominated by Dundee & Angus College for the year 2013/2014.

This is the first time one of our apprentice Plumbers has won this award so we are thrilled and hope to see many more successes in the future.

Wayne Law, William’s Supervisor said,

William is an excellent apprentice, his attitude to work is great and he is showing a great level of understanding and a high standard of work for a 2nd year apprentice. If he continues to make the same progress as he has done, it will be another very good tradesman to come through an apprenticeship at McGill.

SECTT selected Steven Cooney who is in his first year as the 1st Stage Electrical Apprentice of the Year for Dundee College and he is now invited to take part in the SECTT annual competition. This means Steven will be competing against other apprentices from across the east of Scotland at Dundee College on the 11th June.

Martin Hay, Director of Steven’s division said,

Steven was offered an Apprenticeship in 2013 which he has grasped wholeheartedly and put considerable effort into his work both on site and in college. Having recently visited the College and had a chance to look at the work that Steven has done, it was clear to see that he takes great pride in his work and his workmanship on show was very good and well advanced for someone new to the industry. If he keeps this level of commitment up throughout his career, he will go far!
