We were approached by the client’s architect, Matthew Merchant, to submit a design and build tender offer for new offices and workshops at Centaur House, Thainstone Business Park, Inverurie.

The works consisted of offices at ground, first and second floor levels with a large workshop for maintaining plant and equipment used in the civil engineering construction industry.

The Architect chose McGill as they offered a complete service including design, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, security and renewable energy.

From the initial meeting with the client the focus was clearly on the use of renewable energy and the use of low energy lighting solutions. Our in-house design team developed the design to include a containerised biomass boiler with 2000 litre buffer vessel, heat recovery ventilation systems, underfloor heating, water harvesting, solar hot water and extensive use of low energy lighting.

McGill also developed the design for the Fire Alarm System, Intruder Alarm System, Access Control System, CCTV System and Disabled Alarm System.

The key factor in McGill securing the order was the comfort in the client having one point of contact for the complete Building Services Installation.
