McGill were appointed the M&E Contractor on this new build 72 bedroom hotel by Barr Construction under a Design and Build sub-contract agreement.

The construction of the hotel was by use of pre-fabricated concrete sections, with the toilet pods being dropped into each room as the works progressed from first to fourth floor level. As the concrete sections were delivered to site as a finished product ready for painting, the Services installation in each bedroom was a surface installation; therefore attention to detail and quality was paramount.

McGill also pre-fabricated lengths of containment and sent these to the concrete frame supplier for `casting in` to the ceiling sections to conceal the wiring to fire alarm detector points.

There is extensive display lighting throughout the reception, bar and lounge areas and McGill’s in-house design team worked closely with David Brown Lighting and Dynalite to develop a scheme to meet the clients demands for a welcoming atmosphere for visitors and guests alike.

On completion of the works Barr’s project manager commented “McGill have carried out an exceptional job and will be the first M&E Contractor on the list for future projects.”
