McGill were awarded the Mechanical & Electrical work packages by Stewart Milne Construction for the strip out and renewal of the M&E Services to Level 2 of the Kydd Building for the University of Abertay.

The aim of the project was for the University to create the first ever UK Centre for Excellence in Computer Games Education.

As the Contract duration was 12 Weeks, this was a key factor in Stewart Milne Construction’s decision to select McGill for the M&E Services as they only wanted one point of contact to manage this critical element of the works.

McGill appointed Graeme Sutherland as Project Manager, with key responsibilities for health and safety, coordination, procurement, managing sub-contractors and quality control.

Quality was paramount on this project as large areas had exposed ceilings, therefore the ductwork ventilation systems, air conditioning pipework, heating distribution pipework, electrical containment and other Services had to be installed in a neat and orderly manner and to the highest standards.

McGill extend their appreciation to the support given by their supply chain partners in achieving completion on time and in budget.

The measure of success on any project is the ability to obtain repeat business from the principal contractor and client. We are delighted that we have achieved this on both fronts with orders being placed direct by the client and other contracts secured with Stewart Milne Construction.
